Shalimar Gardens is the abode of love

The brand Guerlain Shalimar perfume was created in 1921 and released in 1925 at the international exhibition in the Grand Palais in Paris.
Shalimar is a beautiful name for a perfume, comes from the Gardens of Shalimar is a UNESCO world heritage site, which was built by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan.
Mughal Empire – the Timurid state that existed on the territory of modern India, Pakistan and southeastern Afghanistan in 1526-1540 and 1555-1858 years. The borders of the Empire throughout its existence significantly changed.
Shah Jahan (the"Lord of peace") was the Padishah of the Mughal Empire (1627-1658), who built the Palace of the Taj Mahal.
Versions of creating a fragrance Shalimar few: one, that the components were picked up by accident when a few drops of ethyl-vanillin were in Jicky perfume bottle, or the Jacques Guerlain experimented with flavors and got a new classic Oriental and floral fragrances.

There is also a version that Jacques Guerlain was inspired by the love story of Indian Emperor Shah Jahan to his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan promised her to build the most beautiful Palace and surround it with flower garden, hoping that she will give him a son. Unfortunately, Mumtaz Mahal died in childbirth, and the Emperor built the Palace in her honor and in memory of their love.

(Grand Palais).
